Quick facts: Triveni Ghat
- Triveni Ghat is Rishikesh's central riverfront on the Ganga, best known for its evening Ganga Aarti.
- The aarti starts around sunset, so the time shifts with the season: check it with your host on the day.
- Triveni Ghat is about 1.2 km in a straight line from the Rishikesh ISBT bus stand and about 2.4 km from Rishikesh railway station (Yog Nagari Rishikesh).
- Bharat Mandir, one of Rishikesh's oldest temples, is about 500 m from the ghat, an easy walk.
- Many of our own stays are 6–7 km away: allow 15–25 minutes by auto-rickshaw, car or taxi in normal traffic.
- Haridwar's Har Ki Pauri, the other big Ganga Aarti, is about 25 km downstream.

Why visit Triveni Ghat?
Visit Triveni Ghat for the evening Ganga Aarti: it is Rishikesh's central riverfront for ritual bathing, the aarti, nearby temples and local markets. It is a meaningful stop for pilgrims and a memorable evening experience for first-time visitors. For the wider area, see Uttarakhand Tourism's Rishikesh page.
Ganga Aarti at dusk
The evening ceremony is the main draw. The exact start changes with sunset and local arrangements, so ask your host on the day.
River views and steps
Come earlier for a calmer walk, river views, bathing ghats, and time to find a respectful place before the evening crowd.
Temples and local market
Keep time for the nearby temple and market streets. Carry small notes, water, and only what you need for the riverfront.
What you will find there?
Expect broad river steps, bathing areas, temple access, flower and prayer-item sellers, nearby food and market streets, auto-rickshaws, and places to pause by the Ganga. Facilities and crowd levels vary, so keep valuables secure and use public areas respectfully.
How to plan the visit?
Arrive before sunset, dress modestly, and check the day's aarti time with your host before you leave.
- Arrive before sunset to find a comfortable place without rushing.
- Dress modestly and keep the steps clear for worshippers.
- Carry only essentials; evenings can become busy.
- Avoid putting plastic, flowers, or packaging into the river.
- Check with your host for the current aarti timing before leaving.
Reach Triveni Ghat from your homestay
Allow roughly 15–25 minutes in normal city traffic by auto-rickshaw, car, or taxi: many of our stays are around 6–7 km from Triveni Ghat. A bike can be quicker when roads are clear. A 5–10 minute ride is possible only from a much closer starting point or in unusually light traffic, so leave early for aarti and confirm the pickup spot with your host.
Auto-rickshaw
Easy for short groups and flexible pickup. Agree the fare or use a known local driver before leaving.
Car or taxi
More comfortable for families, older guests, or evening return trips. Ask for a drop point near the ghat steps.
Bike or scooter
Useful when you want to combine Triveni Ghat with Bharat Mandir, markets, or another riverside stop. Confirm parking locally.
Where to stay nearby?
Stay a little away and ride in: you do not need to sleep beside the ghat to enjoy it. Choose one of our quieter stays 6–7 km away, travel in for the evening, and return to a more relaxed base after the crowds thin. Choose Tapovan or Swarg Ashram if cafes, yoga, and quieter walking routes matter more. Want to be right on the steps? Our list of stays near Triveni Ghat is sorted by real distance. Coming by train?
