Bike & scooty rental in Rishikesh
Two wheels are the most Rishikesh way to get around: the lanes between Tapovan, Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula are narrow, parking for cars is scarce, and the best day trips are short hops up the hills. Bike and scooty rentals are starting ₹700 onwards per day; the exact price depends on the bike, the season and how long you keep it, and we confirm it before you commit.
Scooty
Automatic, light and easy to park. Ideal for Tapovan cafe hopping, ghat runs and short climbs. The pick for first-time riders and anyone carrying a yoga mat.
150cc bikes
Geared commuter bikes with a bit more pull for two people on hill roads. A solid middle ground for Neelkanth, Kunjapuri or a run down to Haridwar.
Royal Enfield & Himalayan class
Classic 350s and Himalayan-style adventure bikes for longer rides and confident riders. Heavier in town traffic, glorious once the road starts climbing.
Before you ride
- Licence and ID: carry a valid two-wheeler driving licence and an original photo ID. Visitors from outside India should bring an International Driving Permit along with their home licence.
- Helmets: compulsory for rider and pillion. Ask for two when you book, and actually wear them on the hill roads.
- Fuel: bikes usually come with just enough to reach a pump, and fuel is on you. Fill up in town before heading for the hills.
- Security deposit: most partners take a refundable deposit, and it varies by bike and partner. We'll tell you the amount with the quote.
- Check the bike: brakes, horn, lights and tyres before you leave, and a quick photo of any scratches saves arguments later.
- Traffic: the lanes around Tapovan and Laxman Jhula get jammed on weekends and festival days, and parking near the ghats is tight. Ride slow, honk at blind corners, and park where the locals park.
- After dark: plan to be back before nightfall on hill roads, and keep an eye on landslide warnings in the monsoon.
Ride ideas from Rishikesh
Neelkanth Mahadev
About 30 km of forest switchbacks above the Ganga to the Shiva temple. Go early to beat the crowds, and take it slow on the bends.
Kunjapuri Devi
The sunrise ride. Leave in the dark, climb towards Narendra Nagar and watch the Himalayan peaks light up from the hilltop temple.
Shivpuri
Upstream along the Badrinath road to the rafting beaches and riverside cafes. Easy, scenic and great for a half day.
Chilla
A flat run along the canal road towards Rajaji National Park's Chilla gate, with forest on one side and water on the other.
