Who we are
Rishikesh Homestays is a travel guide to Rishikesh and Haridwar that also operates three stays of its own. See About us for how the site works. For any privacy question, use our contact page.
Information you give us
When you send an enquiry through a form on this site (the main enquiry form, the "list your homestay" form, the stay lead pop-up, a bug report or a rental enquiry) we collect the details you type: your name, phone number, email address if you give one, travel dates, group size and the free-text details of your plan. We use them to reply to you, suggest suitable stays and arrange bookings you ask for.
Enquiries are stored in a Google BigQuery table that only the site operators can read, and a copy is emailed to us through the Resend email service. If you choose the optional email verification, we send a one-time code (OTP) to the address you entered so we can confirm it. The OTP step never blocks an enquiry.
Information collected automatically
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how pages are used: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type. It sets cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. We do not combine this with your enquiry details.
Your choices on the site, such as the light or dark theme and the language, are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device and are not sent to us.
Advertising and cookies
Some pages show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising at g.co/adsettings, and you can opt out of many third-party advertising cookies at aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works without them.
Affiliate links and third-party sites
Some booking links on this site go to Booking.com through the Commission Junction (CJ) affiliate network, and we may earn a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. When you click such a link you leave our site; the booking site, CJ and their cookies are governed by their own privacy policies. We also link to other booking sites, to Google Maps and to social networks, and the same applies.
WhatsApp and phone
If you message or call us on WhatsApp or by phone, we see the number and the content you send, and WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy apply to that chat. We use it only to answer you.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share enquiry details only with the service providers that run the site (Google Cloud for storage, Resend for email, and our hosting provider) and, when you ask us to arrange a stay, with the property that will host you. Stay lead pop-ups are kept internal. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records for as long as needed to answer you and manage your booking, and for a reasonable period afterwards for our own records and legal obligations, then delete or anonymise them. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings in Google Analytics.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you have the right to access your personal data, ask for it to be corrected or erased, and to nominate someone to act for you. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR also gives you the right to object to or restrict processing and to complain to your data protection authority. To use any of these rights, or to ask us to delete your enquiry, write to us through the contact page and say what you want done. We may need to confirm it is you before acting.
Children
This site is for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has sent us details, contact us and we will delete them.
Security
Forms are sent over HTTPS and stored with access limited to the site operators. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top shows the current version, and continued use of the site means you accept the updated policy.
